Bryant Sparkman is responsible for acquiring off-market real estate investments, distressed properties and non-performing notes in
the Western United States. In addition to acquisitions, Mr. Sparkman plays a role in advising real estate private equity funds, developers and private families with regard to joint venture partnerships, feasibility and financing strategies. This includes working
with real estate private equity
funds, developers, individual property owners, and financial institutions, in need of financial structuring, monetization strategies, due diligence, development oversight and sales and marketing.
For over a decade Mr. Sparkman has worked on large-scale mixed-use
projects such as the Hotel and Residences at LA Live and The Century, in
addition to multifamily apartment projects such as the 264-unit Met Lofts project in Downtown Los Angeles.
Prior to founding Century | Urban Mr. Sparkman was a Vice
President of Investments in the urban investment group of MacFarlane Partners,
focused on originating investments, oversight of development and re-development
of existing investments, from initial acquisition to development, through
stabilization and disposition. This
required acting in a development manager capacity in workout situations in an
effort to maximize economics on a risk-adjusted basis. Mr. Sparkman deployed in excess of $750
million of equity capital for acquisitions and ground-up development projects
in with firms such as TMG Partners, Related Companies and Anschutz Entertainment Group.
Mr. Sparkman served as a Financial Analyst in the Real
Estate Investment Banking Group of Banc of America Securities. There, he
participated in engagements involving mergers and acquisitions,
recapitalizations, public and private equity offerings, joint ventures and CBD
office sales for such clients as Blackstone, The Shorenstein Company, Marriott
International, Lazard Frères, KB Home, Wynn Resorts, and Crow Holdings
Mr. Sparkman has participated as a member of the Urban Land
Institute’s (ULI) Executive Council since 2005, UDMUC Product Council, judge
for the Ross Case Competition, and is presently the Programs & Residential Committee Co-Chair of ULI San
Mr. Sparkman graduated cum laude from the University of
Southern California, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration,
with a concentration in finance and entrepreneurship.
